The Boutiqly Story

Created by two female small business owners

Running a boutique is a labor of love—but it can also be overwhelming. Between managing vendors, keeping up with customers, running events, and marketing products, small shop owners juggle endless tasks daily. Katy Sensenig Schilthuis and Ashley Collett know this all too well.

Both started as artisans, creating and selling their own handmade goods before stepping into the world of retail. Katy founded Mosaic Makers Collective a boutique and consignment-based shop with two locations in Texas. Ashley built Salt & Honey Market a thriving boutique and seasonal pop-up marketplace with three locations around Salt Lake City, Utah.

Despite being in different states, their struggles were the same—finding software that could truly support their businesses. They spent years piecing together various tools for CRM, vendor management, email marketing, events, and automation, all while paying top dollar for multiple platforms that each handled only one small part of their operations. It was exhausting, expensive, and inefficient.

In 2023, fate stepped in. Katy, on a trip to Salt Lake City, wandered into Salt & Honey Market—and the rest is history. The two instantly connected over their shared experiences and frustrations, quickly becoming each other’s sounding boards for running a boutique. They had both dreamed of an all-in-one software solution, and in 2024, when Katy pitched an idea to Ashley, Ashley pulled out her own nearly identical business plan. It was meant to be.

Together, they built Boutiqly a one-stop solution for artisans and boutique owners, consignment shops, and pop-up markets. It doesn’t replace a POS or accounting system, but it does everything else—from managing vendors and staff to streamlining customer communications, email marketing, and event planning.

What started as a solution for their own businesses became something too powerful to keep to themselves. Boutiqly is here to save time, cut costs, and give shop owners the freedom to focus on what they love most—growing their business and supporting their community.

Meet Katy Sensenig Schilthuis

Co-Founder of Boutiqly | Founder of Mosaic Makers Collective

Katy Sensenig Schilthuis is an artisan-turned-boutique-owner with a passion for helping makers thrive. She founded Mosaic Makers Collective in Dallas, Texas, as a space where female artisans could showcase their work, grow their businesses, and support each other in the journey of entrepreneurship.

With years of experience navigating the boutique and consignment world, Katy understands the challenges that come with managing a retail shop. Her leadership style is warm, collaborative, and deeply rooted in community over competition. She thrives on celebrating the successes of her makers

—whether it’s paying off debt, launching a new product, or opening a storefront of their own.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband and their cats, belting out Broadway show tunes (she knows most lyrics by heart!), and sipping on a peppermint mocha during the winter months.

Meet Ashley Collett

Co-Founder of Boutiqly | Founder of Salt & Honey Market

Ashley Collett is a designer, entrepreneur, and creative advocate who founded Salt & Honey Market as a way to support fellow artisans and small business owners. She saw a need for a dedicated space where local makers could sell their work beyond occasional pop-up markets, so she took the leap and built a boutique that would empower independent creatives year-round.

With a background in illustration, design, and product development, Ashley brings a sharp eye for curation and a deep understanding of what customers want. Her experience designing for national retailers like Target and Michaels gave her valuable insight into product trends, merchandising, and the importance of storytelling in retail. She applies that expertise to Salt & Honey by creating an inspiring, ever-changing shopping experience where makers and customers connect.

Ashley is passionate about helping small retailers grow, knowing firsthand the challenges and joys of entrepreneurship. She loves seeing artisans turn their passions into thriving businesses. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, working on various creative projects, skiing and exploring local coffee shops.
